Expo crosses one million visits mark

25 October 2021
Thematic activities and business programmes are said to have boosted numbers over the long weekend

Expo 2020 has recorded 1,471,314 visits during its first 24 days.

According to the official statement issued on 25 October, visitor volumes were "boosted by Expo’s Space Week, a stellar programme of music and cultural performances, a public holiday long weekend and the half-term school break".

Updates from Expo 2020's Space Week

The UAE’s public and private sector workers observed a public holiday on Thursday 21 October to mark the Prophet Mohammed’s birthday.

This coincided with mid-term breaks offered by schools across the UAE. Children made up about one quarter of visits to the Expo site over the break.

Meanwhile, the number of virtual visitors has risen to 10.8 million since 1 October, up from 9.3 million last week.

Expo 2020 is targetting 25 million visits across six months, from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022. This figure will not include virtual visits.
