ExxonMobil has said that Iraq’s West Qurna Phase 1 oilfield is on track to reach its initial production target in 2011, Reuters has reported. Current production at the field is more than 200,000 barrels per day, the company said. ExxonMobil and Shell, who won a contract to develop the 8.7-billion-barrel field, aim to boost output to 2.32 million barrels a day (b/d) after setting a baseline production of 244,000 b/d, according to Iraqi officials.
