Faregh revised bids requested

26 August 2005
Waha Oil Company (WOC)is seeking revised bids from three international contractors for the phase 2 development of the Faregh field, 200 kilometres south of Ras Lanuf, following a partial rescoping of the project. Athens-based Joannou & Paraskevaides (J&P - Overseas), Bonattiof Italy and Germany's MAN GHHhave until the end of August to submit new prices for the estimated $200 million engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract.

MAN was the lowest of five bidders when prices for the original scheme were opened in May (MEED 27:5:05). The original scope of works covered the construction of a 180 million-cubic-feet-a-day (cf/d) gas processing plant to go alongside the existing oil production facilities at the field. Initial output will be 47 million cf/d. The technical changes involve an increase in gas processing capacity and changes to the project vendor list that have seen an increase in the number of US - as opposed to European - suppliers on the project.
