Biography: Fazel Fazelbhoy has worked with Dubai-based Topaz Energy and Marine for 11 years and was appointed CEO in January 2008.

Between 2002-07, Fazelbhoy was general manager of Topaz affiliate, Nico International, which specialises in ship repair services, including conversion and refurbishment. He was responsible for expanding the business and opened new facilities in Azerbaijan, Fujairah, Kazakhstan and Oman. Prior to this, Fazelbhoy was general manager of business development and operations manager for another Topaz subsidiary, Adyard Abu Dhabi. 

The firm specialises in both onshore and offshore engineering. At Adyard, Fazelbhoy was responsible for engineering, procurement and offshore construction, as well as rig repair and conversion work.

Fazelbhoy graduated from New York University in the US and began his career with Honeywell, working on projects in the US, the UK and Saudi Arabia.
