Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has awarded MWH, a subsidiary of Canadian firm Stantec Engineering Services, the QR19m ($5.2m) professional consultancy services contract for Doha South Terminal pumping station and regional odour control.
Two other consultancy firms, both US-based, submitted an offer for the contract: CDM Smith (QR24.8m) and CH2M Hill (QR29.3m/QR26.3m).
Ashghal last month extended its programme management services for the $20bn Expressway Programme with US-based KBR by two years.
The extended contract carries a one-year option. Under the terms of the extended contract, KBR will provide “procurement, engineering, construction management, commercial management, project controls, QHSE and public relations” services.
According to KBR, this phase of the project will now focus on construction management, closing projects out both technically and commercially, and handing assets over to relevant authorities.
