Takreer plans to link emirate’s refineries and oilfields
About five international engineering companies have submitted technical proposals for a deal to build petrol storage tanks in northern Abu Dhabi as part of a scheme to link the country’s refineries.
The firms entered technical bids for the engineering, procurement and construction deal on 14 February. Bidders included Daewoo, Samsung, and Hyundai Heavy Industries, all of South Korea; the US’ Chicago Bridge & Iron; and Indian/local Gulf Interstate.
The deal covers the construction of new storage tanks at the Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (Takreer) storage depot at Mussafah. It is valued at up to $100m.
The deal is part of a second-phase scheme to link the country’s refineries, known as the inter-refinery pipeline project. Paris-based Technip is currently completing front-end engineering and design (Feed) studies.
The pipelines will link key oilfields with the Ruwais refinery, the Abu Dhabi refinery, the Al-Ain storage depot, the Mussafah distribution depot and Abu Dhabi International airport.
Contractors expect Takreer to issue bid documents for the estimated $700m deal to build 230 kilometres of pipelines linking the Asab oil
field with the company’s Ruwais refining complex by the second week of March (MEED 14:12:09).
