Firms seek to prequalify for Bahrain road project

Saudi Arabia is funding scheme

Bahrain’s Works Ministry has prequalified 23 groups for the contract to execute reclamation work for the second phase of the North Manama and Busaiteen link road project.

It also prequalified 20 groups for the second deal to build secondary roads and other related works for the scheme. The majority of groups or companies prequalified for both packages.

The Saudi Fund for Development is supplying finance for the project. The prequalification document earlier indicated preference for Saudi, Saudi-Bahrain joint ventures, or joint venture firms between a Saudi and foreign firm.

The scope for the first contract includes general filling works, reclamation and dredging works. Prequalified groups that include individual firms as well as joint ventures are:

The road project entails many components apart from the reclamation package. These include construction of major roads, a signature marine bridge for the fourth Manama-Muharraq crossing, grade-separated interchanges and installation of various services.

The Works Ministry has prequalified the following companies for the other deal, which involves the construction of roads and structures for the Busaiteen link road:
