Five biddersfor Sohar pipeline FEED

Five consultants submitted bids on 16 February for the contract to draw up front-end engineering and design (FEED) studies for the proposed 200-kilometre mixed feedstock pipeline to link Mina al-Fahal with the planned Sohar refinery. They are the UK's Mott MacDonald, Tebodin Middle East- part of Tebodinof the Netherlands, Granherne & Companyand Parsons Oman Engineering Company, both US-based, and Engineers India (EIL).

The pipeline will supply the 125,000-barrel-a-day Sohar refinery with a mixture of crude oil for refining into middle distillates and long residues for cracking into ethylene. The selected consultant will also produce detailed tender documents for the main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) package. Total project costs are estimated at $150 million- 200 million.

Oman Refinery Companyis the client (MEED 17:1:03; 11:10:02). It is also understood that Oman Gas Companymay take a leading role in the project.
