The bidders are Arabtec Construction, Al-Shafar General Contracting, Al-Nekreh Contracting, Engineering Contracting Company, all local, and Turkey’s TAV.
The 101-storey hotel will have a height of 412 metres and a total built-up area of 144,000 square metres. The building's external facade will be predominately glass and will rise to a crown-like crystal structure on the upper floors. The project was originally conceived as a residential building.
The local Middle East Foundations is working on the foundations package. The local National Engineering Bureau is the consultant. Local property developer Sheffield Real Estate, in a joint venture with Russia's Rustar Real Estate, is the client (MEED 28:4:06).
