Danish plant supplier awarded two contracts by Carthage Cement
Denmark’s FLSmidth has won two supply equipment and services contracts totalling $216m from Tunisia’s Carthage Cement for a plant 40 kilometres southwest of Tunis.
When completed in 2012 the facility is set to be one of the largest in North Africa with a capacity of over 2 million tonnes-a-year (t/y). FLSmidth will supply the technology to the plant with local contractors Ekon and Prokon in charge of the construction.
FLSmidth also signed a contract for the operation and maintenance of the facility once work is completed in 2012.
The scope of works in the five-year deal includes staffing the plant and supplying training as well as supplying any spare parts to the facility.
