Dubai’s low-cost carrier Flydubai will start flights to Sri Lanka from 23 June.

The new route will make Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital the Flydubai’s 21^st destination. The airline will initially operate flights four times a week to the island.

The airline has been keen to establish itself as a key carrier in the regional airline industry before it celebrates its first year of operation in June.

The carrier is also scheduled to launch a number of new routes in June including Lucknow which is Flydubai’s first route into India (MEED 12:5:10).

The carrier will also begin flights to Istanbul, Latakia and Karachi in June.
