The developers of the FM Plaza shopping complex in Muscat are talking to international retailers to book floor space in the three-storey mall, ahead of a construction tender expected to be issued in the second half of 2002. Negotiations with retailers are being held by David Adamson & Partnersof the UK, acting on behalf of an as yet unidentified local client.
Located north of An-Nahdah Street in the city centre, the building will have a total floor area of 5,000 square metres, divided over ground, lower ground, and upper ground levels, and a street frontage of some 70 metres. 'We are aiming at a niche and fashion-focused development, attracting the better quality retail brands,' says an executive for David Adamson.
Total project costs are estimated at around RO 2 million ($5.2 million). Once the main tenants are in place, Adamson plans to invite contractors to bid for the construction work, which is expected to take between six and nine months to complete. The official opening is planned for 2004.
