The local/Belgian Bel Hasa Six Constructhas been awarded an estimated $80 million contract to construct a new headquarters in Abu Dhabi for the Foreign Affairs Ministry. The new complex will be built on the site of the existing ministerial complex, close to Abu Dhabi Intercontinental Hotel (MEED 28:5:04).
The other bidders for the contract were South Korea's Samsung Corporation, the UK's Balfour Beattyand Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company (CCC). The scope of works entails the construction of a seven-storey main building, five smaller buildings and a helipad and improvements to a facade of an existing building. CRSS of the US is project manager and the client is Abu Dhabi's Department of Social Services & Commercial Building. The project is scheduled to take about two years to complete.
