Four bid for Banagas FEED

Bahrain National Gas Company (Banagas)is evaluating four bids for the contract to draw up front-end engineering and design (FEED) studies for the proposed debottlenecking and revamp of its existing liquid petroleum gas (LPG) processing and storage facilities. The project is intended to add 20 million-30 million cubic feet a day (cf/d) to the plant's existing gas processing capacity of 280 million cf/d (MEED 21:2:03).

The companies that returned bids on 31 March for the work are: ABB Lummus Global, Stone & Websterand Foster Wheeler Corporation- all of the US, and Costain Oil & Gasof the UK. Banagas expects to award the FEED contract in early June. The selected company will also assist Banagas in preparing tender documents for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) package, which is scheduled for award in the first quarter of 2004.

The project will allow Banagas to handle additional volumes of off-gas expected to come on stream by mid-2006 from the Sitra refinery operated by Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco).
