Four bid for court building in Oman

Four firms have submitted bids for the construction of a government building in Muscat.

The scope of the work covers the construction of a court complex in the capital.

The Omani branch of the Turkish-based company Ay Tek Construction, the local Hasan bin Juma bin Backer Trading & Contracting, the local branch of India’s Larsen & Toubro and Galfar Engineering & Contracting.

Closing date for bids is 23 June 2008.

The Ministry of Justice is the client.

Galfar Engineering & Contracting was part of a consortium, including South Korea’s Daewoo Engineering & Construction that earlier this year, won the contract to build a ship repair and drydock complex at Duqum port.

The Galfar-Daewoo joint venture also saw off competition from South Korea's Hanjin Heavy Industries, Iran's Saff Offshore Industries Company and India's Larsen & Toubro.

The contract includes two 410-metre docks, 2.8 kilometres of quay wall, crane foundations and office buildings (MEED 18:01:08).
