Four compete for water treatment plant

08 August 2003
Four companies submitted bids on 2 August for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to build a seawater treatment plant in the Eastern Province for Saudi Aramco. The project is part of the water injection programme at Ain Dar and Shedgum (MEED 2:5:03).

The bidders for the contract, worth at least $100 million, are Paris-based Technip-Coflexip, Italy-based Techint, Italy's Snamprogettiand Canada's SNC Lavalin.

The release of the tender for the project's second package has been delayed and is now due to be issued in early December. It covers the construction of a 70-100-kilometre-long, 44-inch-diameter pipeline linking the plant with the oil fields.

SNC Lavalin is the project manager on the scheme.
