Contractor to build dentistry, dermatology and paediatric facilities on Abu Dhabi Island

At least four contractors have submitted commercial bids for the contract to build the Arzanah Medical Complex on Abu Dhabi Island.

The bids were submitted in mid-February to Capitala, a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi government-controlled Mubadala Development Company and Singapore-based developer Capitaland.

The bidders include the local Al-Faraa General Contracting Company, the local/Australian Al-Habtoor Leighton Group, the local Arabtec Construction, and Germnay’s Ed Zueblin.

The complex, in the Arzanah development, will provide dentistry, dermatology, paediatrics and general practice medicine.

The engineering consultant is Canada’s Ellisdon. Singapore-based healthcare provider AsiaMedic will manage the centre when it is completed.

Arzanah is a 1.4-square-kilometre, mixed-use development planned for the area surrounding Zayed Sports City on Abu Dhabi Island, close to Khaleej al-Arabi road and the Hudayriat channel.

The wider development will include residential, commercial, sports and leisure accommodation and is also being developed by Capitala (MEED 22:11:09).

Mubadala is also developing the Cleveland Clinic project on Sowwah Island. It has shortlisted three groups for the contract to build it. The shortlisted groups are the Al-Habtoor Leighton Group, Greece’s Aktor with Arabtec, and a joint venture of the local/Belgian Six Construct Abu Dhabi with South Korea’s Samsung Corporation.

Mubadala was also tendering a design and build contract for Tawam Hospital in Al-Ain, but it cancelled that tender in early February (MEED 3:2:10).
