Design contract awarded for work on Um Alhoul economic zone
- Egis wins design and supervision contract in Doha
- Um Alhoul part of three major economic zones being developed
Frances Egis has been awarded a design and construction supervision contract for the work on the Um Alhoul Economic Zone in Doha.
The 34-square-kilometre economic zone, which adjoins the New Port Project, just south of Wakrah, will target companies from the petrochemical sectors through to maritime operations and logistics.
Manateq, formerly known as the Economic Zones Company, is developing three major economic zones at different locations, which will focus on logistics, and air freight facilities and companies.
A second smaller project, Ras Bufontas, will be located next to the new airport, and will cover a total area of 4 sq km. This zone is aimed to attract air freight and logistics companies.
The third zone will be located just south of the current Doha Industrial area.
