RATP will assist the Roads & Transport Authority with its metro and tram projects

France-based RATP Group has signed an agreement with Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) to help develop an integrated transport network in the UAE.

These networks include bus, tram and metro systems. RATP Dev, a subsidiary of RATP Group, will carry out the work. RATP has helped metro and tram systems in Paris.

Dubai is currently constructing the Green line of the metro, which is the network’s second line. The Red line began operations in September 2009.

The emirate is also building the $1.1bn Al-Sufouh tram. In September 2010, the RTA said it was negotiating the financing of the $1.1bn Al-Sufouh tram with the contracting consortium and restudying the alignment (MEED 28:9:10).

The tram project is now scheduled to be operational at the end of 2014. It was originally due for completion in April 2011.
