Financial offers have been opened for the two main packages in a French-financed project to build the West Delta regional control centre for the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company. The only contractors post-qualified were Alcatel, for the telecommunications package, and Alstom T&D, for the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) package.
Alcatel is understood to have priced its package at Eur 17.1 million ($14.9 million) plus £E 16.8 million ($3.6 million). Alstom's quote - for the SCADA, substation adaption works and the control building - is Eur 9.2 million ($8 million) plus £E 37.1 million ($8 million). Alstom Egyptand the local Electro-Tharwatare also part of the consortium bidding for the SCADA package.
The foreign currency portion of the project is financed from French government protocols.
