Revised prices were invited after bids submitted in late June by six local and international companies came in above budget. In the original round, the local Dubai Contracting Company (DCC) submitted the low bid of about AED 126 million ($34 million).

Nine new companies have also been prequalified for the new tender. The final list of prequalifiers includes DCC, South Korea's Samsung Corporation,the local/Belgian Six Construct Abu Dhabiand Arab Technical Construction Company (Arabtec), Arabian Construction Company (ACC), Al-Hamed Development & Construction, Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises, Dhabi Contracting Company, Al-Geemi & Partners Contracting Company, Al-Muraikhi General Contracting Company, Emirates Link Maltauro, Pivot Engineering & General Contracting Company and Target Engineering & Construction-all local.

The 22-month contract calls for the construction of a 20-storey tower with a three-level underground car park and related facilities on Electra Street in Abu Dhabi.

The consultant is a team of Chile's A-4 with the local Architectural Planning Group. The US' Turner International is the project manager (MEED 16:5:03).
