Saif al-Islam Gaddafi to stand trial in the Hague in August
The son of the former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi is to stand trial in The Hague in August. Saif al-Islam Gaddafi is charged with various offences committed during his father’s reign and the eight month civil war that led to him being deposed.
The International Criminal Court decided that the Netherlands would be the location, which will allow for a fair trial for Gaddafi despite continued requests by Libya to try him in Tripoli.
Gaddafi is currently being held by a militia in Zintan, a Libyan town in the south of the North African state. There has still be no agreement put in place that will allow for his handover to the Libyan government.
