Local contractor will build a grid station and install cables

The local Galfar Engineering & Contracting has been awarded a RO10.3m ($26.6m) contract to build a grid station at Ghala, Oman.

The local contractor will also install 32kV cables in the Muscat governorate as part of the contract. The contract duration is 16.5 months and the client is the Oman Electricity Company.

The contract is the latest of several deals that Galfar has won in the sultanate this year. The contractor was recently awarded the RO10.9m contract to build a fishing harbour in the Wilayat of Barka. In March, it was awarded an estimated RO138.9m contract to build the first phase of the Batinah expressway. It covers the construction of the 45km stretch of the road from Naseem Garden to Suwaiq and is scheduled to take three years to complete.
