Local contractor will build fishing harbour in Wilyat of Barka
The local Galfar Engineering & Contracting has been awarded a RO10.9m ($28.4m) contract to build a fishing harbour in the Wilayat of Barka.
The harbour will have a 100-metre-long quay wall and two breakwaters of between 450-600-metres in length. The construction work will take 18 months to complete. The client on the project is Oman’s Agriculture and Fisheries Ministry.
The project is one of a number of fishing harbour schemes that the sultanate has tendered this year.
Contractors are currently preparing submissions for the contract to build a fishing harbour at Duqm, on the east coast of Oman.
