Gasco awards Fluor Habshan FEED contract

The US' Fluor Danielhas been awarded an estimated $9 million contract to carry out the front-end engineering and design (FEED) on the Habshan gas complex expansion project (MEED 8:8:03).

The US firm was the low bidder for the contract. The two other bidders were Paris-based Technipand Bechtelof the US (MEED 12:9:03).

The fast-track project is aimed at increasing the gas processing and reinjection capacity of the existing plant. The FEED contract will include a review of the existing information facilities, modelling simulation and optimisation.

The scope of works includes:

The Thamama B expansion, which calls for the construction of: a new 350 million-cubic-feet-a-day train at the Habshan gas complex; the installation of a low-pressure booster compressor; a gas pipeline from the Bab oil field to Habshan; a new acid gas removal unit; a new natural gas liquids (NGL) unit; a new NGL pipeline; and a high-pressure gas pipeline from the Abu Dhabi Company For Onshore Oil Operations (Adco)oil field at Bu Hasa to Habshan

A sulphur recovery unit to process the increased volumes of acid gas to be produced from the third phase of the onshore gas development (OGD-3) project

A new re-injection compressor unit at the existing Habshan gas plant, which will supply Adco with gas for reinjection to the Bab field.

The client is Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Company (Gasco- MEED 16:5:03).
