The invitees include the Washington Group International, Devco and Mustang Group, all US-based, and the US/Canadian VECO. No dates have been set for the submission of commercial bids.

The project calls for the design and construction of a 400,000-tonne storage facility at Habshan and the reclamation of 1,000 tonnes a day (t/d) of sulphur. The FEED package will take about six months to complete. A feasibility study for the project was carried out in 1993.

The scheme will handle additional volumes of sulphur to be produced from the first-phase expansion of the Habshan gas complex, for which the US’ Fluor Corporation is carrying out the $999 million engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract (MEED 14:10:05).
