Gazprom tenders Libyan gas exploration work

24 June 2008
Russian gas producer Gazprom has invited contractors to bid for the provision of seismic services as it looks to develop three gas exploration blocks in the southern part of the Ghadames Basin.

Gazprom wants contractors to carry out a 3D seismic survey of 1,750 square kilometres and a 1,500-kilometre 2D seismic survey in contract area 64 in the Ghadames Basin.

The Russian energy giant won the acreage during a licensing round conducted by Libya’s National Oil Corporation in December (MEED 10:12:07).

Companies are required to register interest in the project by 27 July, with an award expected by October.
