Biography: Georg Brakmann joined Fichtner in 1987 to promote the use of solar energy in the Middle East and North Africa region.
He was responsible for setting up Fichtner Solar as an independent entity within the group. Brackmann worked on the feasibility study for Phoebus, a 30MW solar plant in Jordan between 1992-1993.
Fichtner has also prepared the feasibility study for Abu Dhabi’s Shams 1 solar project and is working on Egypt’s first integrated solar combined-cycle power plant at Kuraymat. In 1998, Brakmann co-founded and became the first president of the European Solar Thermal Power Industry Association.
Brakmann studied mechanical engineering at Germany’s Essen University, before moving to Montreal, Canada to work for Monenco. He has a master’s degree in engineering from McGill University in Montreal.
