Biography: Gholamreza Kord-Zanganeh is chairman of the IPO.
Previously, Kord-Zanganeh served as deputy minister for the Economic Affairs and Finance Ministry. He also served as governor of the Iranian National Tax Administration between 2004-05. Kord-Zanganeh graduated from the UK’s Birmingham University and has a doctorate in business management. In early April, the IPO published a list of 90 companies, which have been shortlisted for privatisation by 2014.
About 50 firms on the list were considered high priority for privatisation. The sell-off of state-owned firms is expected to provide a significant boost to the Tehran Stock Exchange’s trading volumes.
The IPO estimates it can raise more than $12bn through the privatisations. The organisation raised $15bn between March 2009 and March 2010.
