Shares of Qatar Telecom (Qtel) weakened 0.41% to QR168.00 as the former local telecom monopolist reported net profit attributable to Qtel shareholders for the second quarter of QR571m, a 45.3% decline compared to the same quarter in 2009. Shares of Qatar Telecom (Qtel) weakened 0.41% to QR168.00 as the former local telecom monopolist reported net profit attributable to Qtel shareholders for the second quarter of QR571m, a 45.3% decline compared to the same quarter in 2009. Its customer base, however, increased by 29% year-on-year to 66.6 million as the firm operates Iraq, Indonesia, Iraq and Oman and it holds the majority in Kuwait's Wataniya. Other shares in Doha ended on a mixed note, with no clear industry segment movement.
