Granherne takes Mina al-Fahal FEED

Granherne & Companyof the US has been awarded the front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for the isomerisation unit project at Mina al-Fahal refinery. The FEED will take about six months, after which a tender for the main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) package will be issued in the third quarter. Oman Refinery Companyis the client (MEED 20:12:02; 18:10:02).

The scope of works covers the installation of a 10,000-barrel-a-day (b/d) unit, licensed by UOPof the US, for the production of unleaded gasoline. Feedstock will come from a mixture of light naphtha already produced at the refinery and condensate supplied by Oman LNG.

The isomerisation project is the second phase of the proposed upgrade of the refinery. South Korea's SK Engineering & Constructionis scheduled to complete by December the installation of an 18,000-b/d diesel hydro-desulphurisation unit that will produce low-sulphur diesel fuel (MEED 7:6:02).
