Growth in Qatar money supply slows to 10 per cent

29 September 2008
Money supply in Qatar grew by 9.8 per cent between the end of March and the end of June.

The figure marks a slowdown compared to the 13.2 per cent growth in money supply in the previous three-month period.

The moderation in M3 money supply, the broadest measure of all the cash in the economy, could be an indication that inflation has peaked.

Inflation is currently 14.75 per cent, and money supply is considered a key indicator of future inflationary pressure on an economy.
