Gulf Air announces new chairman

30 April 2008
Gulf Air has named Talal Alzain, chief executive officer of the Bahraini government’s investment arm, Mumtalakat Holding Company, as the airline’s new chairman.

Mumtalakat is the holding company for Bahrain’s national carrier and the appointment forms part of a rotation of senior staff within the state-owned group's major businesses.

Alzain replaces Mahmoud al-Kooheji as chairman who has departed to head the board of the country’s national telecoms group, Batelco, which is also owned by Mumtalakat.

Gulf Air has also added Lloyd Cromwell Griffiths, airline operations director at British Airways for 34 years, to its board.
