09 January 2008
Bahrain’s Gulf Finance House is to establish an energy hub in Libya.

Energy City Libya will be a full service business centre targeting the country’s oil and gas industry.

Located on the Mediterranean coast, 70 kilometres west of Tripoli it will be developed on an area of 528 hectares. The complex will include residential, hospitality and retail areas.

"We are very impressed with the concept of Energy City Libya as presented to us by Esam Janahi [chairman of Gulf Finance],” says Shokri Ghanem, chairman of the National Oil Corporation.

“We firmly believe Energy City Libya will help the country emerge as an international energy hub in addition to having a positive impact on gross domestic product and creating job opportunities. Furthermore, Energy City Libya will not only benefit Libya but the region as a whole.”
