Gulf Technical Construction Company wins Abu Dhabi construction deal

Local firm will build labour accommodation building in Al-Dhafra

The local Campco Properties has awarded the local Gulf Technical Construction Company (GTCC) a AED140m ($38m) contract to build a labour accommodation building at Al-Dhafra in Abu Dhabi emirate.

The work will involve building an accommodation building for 5,000 workers covering a total area of 49,425 square metres.

The estimated completion date for the project is November 2011.

GTCC is a subsidiary of Drake & Scull Construction, which is part of Dubai-based Drake & Scull International. Campco Properties is also a subsidiary of Drake & Scull International.

In March this year, GTCC was awarded two construction contracts in Dubai totalling AED484m ($131m) by the local developer Damac Properties.

GTCC will build the AED371m Lakeside and AED113m Corner Developments.

The Lakeside development, which is located in the International Media Production Zone (IMPZ), is a residential scheme, which will consist of four towers, two with 21 storeys and two with 22 levels. The project will also include other facilities such as a gymnasium, tennis court and swimming pools.

The Corner development is a 15-storey commercial development located at Business Bay. The tower will include offices and other facilities such as a gymnasium and shops (MEED 11:3:10).
