Gulf Technical Construction Company wins two contracts from Damac

11 March 2010

Drake & Scull unit will work at Business Bay and International Media Production Zone

Local Gulf Technical Construction Company (GTCC) has been awarded two construction contracts in Dubai totalling AED484m ($131m) by local developer Damac Properties.

GTCC will begin construction work immediately on the AED371m Lakeside and the AED113m Corner developments.

The Lakeside development, which is located in the International Media Production Zone, is a residential scheme which will consist of four towers, two with 21 storeys and two with 22 levels. The project will also include other facilities such as a gymnasium, tennis court, and swimming pools.

In 2008, the main construction contract for the Lakeside development was awarded to Sharjah-based Intermass Engineering & Contracting Company. But, for reasons that are not clear, Intermass did not start construction work on the development and the contract was retendered.

The Corner development is a 15-storey commercial development located at Business Bay. The tower will include offices and other facilities such as a gymnasium and shops.

GTCC is a subsidiary of Drake & Scull Construction, which is part of Dubai-based Drake & Scull International.
