Hadeed plans further expansion at Jubail

03 October 2003
The board of Saudi Iron & Steel Company (Hadeed) approved on 29 September a 500,000-tonne-a-year (t/y) expansion of iron bar capacity at its 2.5 million-t/y complex in Jubail. The project is one of several major expansion schemes under implementation at Hadeed.

Bids are under evaluation at Hadeed for a number of contracts. Two international contractors are competing for a contract to upgrade the company's galvanising line, while an award is expected by the end of the year on the contract to expand Hadeed's hot mill (MEED 26:9:03).
