Hamad medical complex takes shape for Games

The US' Hill International has been appointed project manager for Doha's proposed Hamad medical complex/Asian Games athlete village project.

Estimated to cost QR 1,300 million ($356 million), the project calls for the construction of three hospital buildings offering a total of 550 beds, a residential complex for nurses and related works. The facilities will be ready by December 2006, in time for the Doha Asian Games.

Design work for the proposed complex will be ready by mid-2003. The first construction package, covering site preparations and related works, is due to be issued for tender by August.

The consultant is Fedcon of Thailand; the client is the Municipal Affairs & Agriculture Ministry.
