Winning firm to design, build, operate and maintain wastewater treatment scheme

Oman’s Haya Water has delayed the bid deadline for the planned Darsait wastewater treatment plant to 26 October.

Companies were originally due to submit bids on 28 September.

The winning bidder will design, build, operate and maintain the plant, which will have capacity of 50,000 cubic metres a day of wastewater. The plant, located at Darsait in the Muscat governorate, will use membrane biological reactor technology.

The contract also covers two treated effluent storage tanks and a pumping station.

The contractor will build the plant adjacent to an existing wastewater treatment facility.

A total of 42 companies have bought the tender documents for the project. The wastewater treatment plant will begin operating in December 2011.
