Biography: Hazem al-Madi has been CEO of UAE-based Green Crescent Insurance Company since November 2011. Green Crescent was founded in 2008 as a public joint stock company, with a paid up capital of AED250m ($68m). It is listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.

Al-Madi began his career in the insurance sector in 1999 as a medical underwriter. In 2003, he became senior manager of operations and medical claims at Oman Insurance Company. He was promoted to executive vice-president and head of health insurance in 2008, a role he remained in for three years. Al-Hazim graduated with a bachelor’s degree in medicine and general surgery.

He also has a postgraduate qualification in information technology and healthcare management accredited by the Chicago-based American Medical Association. He is a member of the UK Institute of Risk Management.
