Hill International wins Iraq stadium deal

The 30,000-seat stadium will be located in Al-Anbar province

The US-based Hill International has been awarded a ID3.8bn ($3.3m) contract to provide project management services for a new $100m stadium project in Iraq.

In addition to project management services, Hill will provide design review, site supervision and resident engineering services for the 30,000-seat Al-Anbar Olympic Stadium, which will be located in Al-Anbar, a Western province in Iraq. Hill was awarded the two-year contract towards the end of of December.

The Al-Anbar stadium will be designed to comply with the standards of Fifa, world football’s governing body.

The stadium deal is the second contract that the Hill International was awarded in Iraq in 2011. In June, it was awarded contracts worth a total of $1.5bn to provide project management and construction services for the first phase of a $35bn housing development in Iraq.

Hill International was awarded a $200m contract by South Korea’s Trac Development Group to provide project management services for the construction of 100,000 houses and related infrastructure at a development that will include 500,000 homes when it is completed.

Hill International’s majority-owned subsidiary Hillstone International was awarded an estimated $1.3bn contract to supply building structural systems to Trac for the first 100,000 houses of the development (MEED 10:6:2011).
