Hill wins Al-Ain irrigation contract

The US’ Hill International has won the project management contract on the AED 600m ($163m) irrigation masterplan for Al-Ain.

The value of the five-year contract is estimated at $6.4m. The client is the Al-Ain Municipality. Construction is due to start in January 2009 and end by January 2013.

The irrigation network will serve 21 new reservoirs in the Al-Ain region and surrounding areas until 2020.

The existing pumping and irrigation zones will be re-grouped so that Al-Ain will have 18 zones and the surrounding area will consist of 11 zones. Each zone will have a reservoir, a pumping station and a central irrigation control system.

With the new reservoirs, the Al-Ain region will have a total of 30.
