Hospitals to get IT injection

14 October 2005
Bids are due by 31 October to supply information systems to seven hospitals in the West Bank and Gaza. Computer equipment and software will be installed in three pilot hospitals in the West Bank and three in Gaza, all of which have little IT infrastructure, as well as the better-equipped European Hospital in Gaza. The project will co-ordinate the hospitals' IT systems and connect each hospital's departments to a new patient database. The European Commission's Eur 1.9 million ($2.3 million) hospital sector planning and management project also includes the decentralisation of hospital management and senior management training. The British Council is implementing the project, which started in January 2004 and is due to finish at the end of 2005.
