Some hotels in Dubai's central business district are paying taxi drivers Dhs100 ($27) to Dhs150 as commission for bringing in clients, reported The National. These hotels, which rely heavily on walk-in customers and traders from neighbouring countries, are being forced to take this unusual step because occupancy is down at least 25% this December. One taxi driver said many of his colleagues are taking up the hotels on their offer.
