Centre to support Hyders expansion in Middle East
UK consultant Hyder has opened a new design centre in Amman, Jordan. The Amman design centre currently houses highways and drainage expertise and will accommodate Hyders expanding diversity of expert knowledge as the business continues to grow and win work in new market sectors. In 2014, the company will celebrate its 110th year of operations in the Middle East.
In June, Qatars Public Works Authority (Ashghal) awarded Hyder a $112m contract for the design and construction supervision of a new section of the Doha Expressway.
It is one of the largest contracts Hyder has won from Ashghal in recent years, and the largest to be secured since the beginning of the financial year.
Specifically, the contract covers the concept design review, preliminary and detailed design, construction contract preparation, tender services and construction supervision services for:
The Al-Khor Bypass P22 in the northeast of Qatar, which includes 35 kilometres of expressway, incorporating four junctions, three running lands and a hard shoulder.
The Al-Khor Expressway P25 and Al-Khor to Umm Birkah road in the northeast Qatar, which includes 26km of expressway, 13 junctions, three running lands and a hard shoulder.
