The local Imco Engineering & Construction is in line for the contract to provide maintenance services at the Mina Abdulla refinery, after the Central Tenders Committee approved its offer of KD19m ($70.4m).
Imco was low bidder for the project, with an offer marginally lower than the next best bid of KD19.7m from the local KCC Engineering & Contracting Company. Three other local contractors priced the work (MEED 13:7:08).
The five-year contract covers the maintenance and supervision of control and instrumentation systems at the 240,000-barrel-a-day refinery.
The client, state refinery operator Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), is expected to formally sign the contract soon.
