Riyadh now free to export polypropylene to India without penalty
India has lifted its anti-dumping duty on Saudi Arabian polypropylene imports in a move that will affect eight manufacturers in the kingdom, according to announcement made by India’s Central Board of Excise and Customs.
The move comes after a prolonged bout of lobbying from the kingdom’s polypropylene manufacturers to have the levy dropped and some experts now say that it will increase competition and subsequently lower prices in India.
However, other experts think that due to the low prices currently being secured for polypropylene in India, Saudi manufacturers will look for alternative markets that offer higher margins.
Oman has not had its anti-dumping duty lifted by India yet.
