Indian company wins Kuwait substation contract

Upstream operator Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has signed a KD21.8m ($71.8m) contract with India’s Larsen and Toubro to build a substation at the Mina al-Ahmadi refinery, located in the south east of the country.

The new substation will replace an existing facility.

Speaking to Kuwait’s state-owned news service Kuna, KOC’s CEO Mohammad al-Mutairi said the new substation would have an explosion-proof design and use state-of-the-art technology for operations and control.

Kuwait’s Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery has been earmarked for an overhaul and expansion project as part of the country’s $14bn Clean Fuels project.
