Indian contractor wins UAE and Algerian contracts

KEC International wins deals worth $135m

India’s KEC International has won two power transmission contracts worth IR6.31bn ($135m) in Algeria and Abu Dhabi.

Under the IR3.85bn contract in Abu Dhabi, KEC will install 162 kilometres of 400kV transmission lines. The client is the Abu Dhabi Transmission & Despatch Company.

KEC will finish the work on the contract over two years.

In Algeria, KEC won a contract for a 400kV transmission line from state-owned utility Sonelgaz. The project will be carried out over a period of 15 months.

In May 2009, KEC won another transmission contract in Abu Dhabi.The contract covered the diversion of 220kV and 400kV transmission lines to a new 400/220/33kV substation.
