Indian firm bids low for Omani ministry deal

Government office to be built close to Muscat International airport

Four companies have bid for a contract to build the headquarters of Oman’s Manpower Ministry close to Muscat International airport.

The low bidder is India’s Larsen & Toubro (L&T), which bid RO17.9m ($46.6m).

The other bidders are all Omani contractors. They are Al-Turky Enterprises at RO18.7m, Bahwan Engineering Company at RO19m, and Galfar Engineering & Contracting at RO22m.

Oman’s Transport & Communications Ministry is also about to award a major construction contract to build two headquarters buildings (MEED 6:11:09).

On 19 October, it received bids from various companies for a contract to build the headquarters for the Directorate General of Civil Aviation & Meteorology in Muscat.

The low bidder is Special Technical Services, an Omani contractor, with a price of RO21m ($54m). The other bidders are Al-Shanfri Trading Company, Al-Rawahi International Company, Galfar, National United Engineering Construction Company, and Toweel Construction & Maintenance Company, all local, L&T, and UAE-based Target Engineering Construction Company.
